Wandoor Beach is situated around 30 km east of Port Blair, Wandoor beach is famous amongst tourists and locals alike. The picturesque scenery of the beach makes it ideal for swimming, photography, and sunset view.

Wandoor Beach

Away from the milling crowd of Port Blair, Wandoor beach is a delight for the urge to seclusion. Wandoor beach was badly devastated during the Tsunami and its impact can still be seen in the form of fallen trunks on the shoreline. The shoreline is fringed with long trees and partly indented with waterways to mangroves. Sunset on the distant horizon in the foreground of mangroves under the shadows of clouds and twilight reflecting over the rolling ocean is a treat to the eyes.

The 30 Km road journey from Port Blair to Wandoor is very scenic. The route is surrounded by lush green trees of coconuts and mangroves.

There are many agricultural research farms of ICAR and CARI, situated near Sippighat along this route. One can also see the submerged landmasses resulting from the Tsunami waves.

Wandoor Beach is located approx. 1 km after the Mahatma Gandhi Marine national park which is also the embarkation point for Jolly Buoy Island.

The scenic beauty, the vastness of the ocean, and the beautiful islands look amazing from the shore.

It is an ideal beach to spend a few quiet hours, away from the crowd. The beach is long enough with a giant uprooted tree in the middle, creating a very beautiful view.

How to reach Wandoor beach?

Wandoor is a one-hour drive from Port Blair via the Andaman Trunk road. Regular government and private buses are also available from Port Blair.

Timings

The Wandoor beach is open to tourists from sunrise to sunset, however, the best time to visit the beach is before sunset.
